I think the last time i set foot into the National Stadium was during the 2001 National Day Parade. That was a good 6yrs ago! If not for the photoshoot for the 2nd phase of the Marathon campaign, i wouldn't have set foot into the grand old dame again...
Honestly, the stadium felt somewhat "different" to me today. Maybe becoz it's always the venue for the National Day Parade & always packed with loads of people but when i went there today, it was just a couple of us. Haha, i stood in the middle of the field & took a breathe of air to "feel" the atmosphere of the place... Hmm, it's really strange to be looking at an empty stadium & can't help but feel that the stadium was part of a memory for me too - the venue that i gave me my 1st & only NDP memory.
I suppose many will be sad to see the stadium being demolished. Oh well, maybe we should seek solace on the fact that the S'pore government will replace the grand dame with something even more spectacular. Afterall, when Singapore sets its mind to do something, we usually don't screw up. Haha, even the angmos can tell me that. I suppose we do have a reputation for making sure things happen.
I sure will miss the grand old dame. It was a fun afternoon, except for the rain which had to bring the shoot indoors! Haiz, to create a cheering atmosphere indoors is a huge challenge. I sure hope the photos turn out well!!! *cross my fingers for Mon!*
