Taitai wannabe meets yaya angmo

I went for a pedicure this morning at this new shop in Boat Quay. Wonder how they got my no. but they called to introduce their new personal beauty services and had an opening promotion for their pedicure services - only $6, using OPI products! Since KL wasn't in town, i decided to be a taitai wannabe and refresh the colour of my toenails!

The shop's decor was really tasteful. The chandeliers and muralled wallpaper added to its opulence interior and well, their nailbar had a vast array of the OPI nailcolours. I love OPI. Their nailcolours are somehow more lasting than the standard ones.

Since it's an "opening promotion" that i went for, i was kinda prepared that there'd be agressive sale pitches for their nail packages. Of course, i hated packages esp for services that i hardly go for so it was a polite NO all the way.

In comes the yaya angmo. U might wonder why i confer the term. Well, this English pretty lad spoke confidently and introduced himself as the boss of the chain. Chatted with me & asked where i was working etc. When he knew that i was doing Marketing for the Bank, this guy just started throwing out names of supposedly some top Marketing Head and asked if you know so and so. The conversation continued with him blaring about the business and that he'll be opening 8 other nailbars islandwide, and that i should try his Brazillian, that he guarantee will be the "best" i will ever have! Yadadada.... all the way, throwing names of so & so, telling me how many consultancies he had etc.

Boy, i was real bored but had to play along... Sometimes i wonder why these folks are so yaya. Was he expecting me to be in awe that he was going to have tea with some hot shot of the Bank & travelling to London to meet so & so? Duh! Get a grip!!! I was just there for a "trial" so stop harassing me on who u rub shoulders with!

He'll be the deterrent. stopping me to head back for another nail service. Wonder if it's becoz of the cultural differences that made him so yaya. Don't they know what's being humble? Such a put off! Apart from the lovely nail colour on my toenails and the opulent decor of the place, i will not be inclined to head back again.

Residing back in Parc Oasis

KL is in HK for a mth so after clearing all the washing & ironing, i am moving back home, to Parc Oasis.

Nothing beats staying & sleeping on the bed that i had for the past 13 yrs. I miss having mum & dad at home so speak with. Back in Parc Vista, it's just me, & me. Silence abods most of the time, & i usually leave the telly on so that there'd be some background noise when i am clearing the household chores. I am not lonely, just that well, a home does need some noise & feels eerie when it gets a little silent, too often.

I'll be packing my bags to HK next weekend, go spend some time with KL & visit Ocean Park and the CityGate factory outlets. A chance to catchup with some of KL's frens too, who are working in HK. Can't wait for HK trip to happen... the countdown begins!

The warm fuzzy feeling

I didn't even recalled that i was pending the softcopy of the stage photo taken during NTU commencement but now that i see it again, reminds me of the struggles that i went thru, & some of the folks from my cohort are still attending night classes now, trying to complete their studies...

Call me itchy hand but i decided to go about designing a thank you card that'll include the table shots taken at the wedding. Yep, i intend to send out hardcopies to my guests. Here's a peak of the photo on the thank-you card cum photo frame.

Hives outbreak

What is so wrong with me? I am suffering from a serious Hives outbreak. It happened a couple of days ago in the evenings but got serious in the office the day before. I couldn't stop scratching myself & there were huge batches of red on my skin. Took a jab & felt much better, only to wake up to it again this morning!

I already changed the bedsheets & clothes but why still the itch?? Some say it's a change in temperature, others say dust but when i checked the internet, the cause - UNKNOWN.

This itch is driving me nuts. Can't scratch else kena scars. Don't scratch, itch killing... URGH!!!!

It's a month!

Yep, can't believe it's been a mth since i got married. Well, i get questions like "How does it feel to be Mrs Ong" but hey, apart from the fact that i have to manage the household chores, wash & iron someone else's clothes, nothing really changes coz, i hardly see him!

He works dreadful hrs & last night, returned home at 330am. Suddenly it feels like US-SIN again... where we communicate via the mobile phone. Apart from heading to work, attending meetings & heading home, my life has turned rather routine & well, that's what I am dreading now. I manage the grocery shopping myself, the house furnishings etc. Even if KL has the luxury of staying at home on weekends, i hardly involve him in the household chores (thought g/fs of mine say i'll spoil him in no time).

Home is now a 1200 sqm apartment at Parc Vista, opposite Lakeside MRT. Finally managed to settle in quite fine but still sussing out for a nice painting to hang in the hall to take away some bare-ness of the white walls! When i finally get the painting, i'll start inviting friends over for gatherings.

Meanwhile, let's see what time KL returns home tonight. He's either travelling or working in the office. Poor him... Well, as i always say "there's a sacrifice for every decision". I am "paying back" my decision for letting him pursue the Wharton MBA - seeing him only 48hrs in a week!

Tiring day

Took half day today to be home to wait for the furniture & curtain delivery. Staying on our own is a mean feat, especially when KL is working dog hours. The horrid hours of IB has loomed on him, giving him hardly any spare time for leisure.

I am still trying hard to get used to living alone, or rather, being home alone majority of the time. After work hrs is usually spent washing clothes or running errands for the house & turning in alone most nights. I wonder how long can we take such a lifestyle but i guess, that's what we should have been mentally prepared for & apparently now, we are still trying to get used to.

I don't know what the future brings but all i know is that we gotta work hard for what we want. Let's see if changes come our way & let me get back my direction in life!

A new place called HOME (at least for the next yr)

Finally moved into the new apartment. Had to beat the lunar 7th month coz grandma wasn't too pleased that we were suppose to stay in on 1st Aug (which coincides with the 1st day of the Hungry Ghost Festival).

I had to juggle work + shifting in so the last 3 days was hell. Finally setup the Starhub cable TV & internet connection and with some finer touches to make the place cozier, this place should make a good home for the next 1 yr (at least).

Just got the photographer to upload the actual day wedding montage. See below for your viewing pleasure:
