When i embarked on this break, i thought it'll be really long and that i'll feel all energized and refreshed after taking a long rest. Afterall for the entire 2009, i didn't really have a good break. Much of the time was spent on work and work... Not to mention the nerve-recking renovations.
Looking back, what did i accomplish in these 3 weeks:
1. Watch 3 drama serials online - 命中注定我愛你, 宮心計, 烈火雄心3
2. Did some shopping during non-peak hours at Raffles Place
3. Caught up with friends whom i didn't do so for the longest time
4. Witnessed 2 beautiful weddings of close friends
5. Visited Baby Emma
6. Packed my room in my mum's place
7. Went to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and experienced the orderly mess
I could have done more in these 3 weeks frankly... Item 1 on the list took up the most time but figured out that if i don't watch these dramas now, life will be chaotic when i start the new job so heck... Watch 1st.
It's the last day of 2009 already and yet it doesn't feel like it. In previous times, i usually spend such days reflecting on what i have done in 2009, the experiences, memories, happy times, unhappy times etc. However, maybe for the start, let's look forward to 2010 and see what life will offer in this new millenium.
Happy New Yr Elena...
Whether it's sunset or sunrise, it really depends on you...

Leaving on a jetplane
We are leaving HCMC this afternoon. Despite all the whines and grouses from KL, the trip was overall good. We really had gd fun and enriching knowledge of the Vietnam war in the Cu Chi tunnels. These underground tunnels are really a marvel and it's amazing what human determination can allow one to achieve.
Shopping wasn't really good here frankly. I am no fan of counterfeits or bad quality products so landed up with only 1 maxi dress and 2 home shorts for KL. Nope, we didn't get any food either since no 1 appreciates salted fish and pickles back home. We really wanted to get paintings but since we didn't measure the wall back home, gave it a pass despite it's very attractive price. Price to pay for not doing our homework before coming.
It's back to reality in Singapore later today... not to mention that i only have 1 week left in my make-believe taitaihood.

Land of the buzzing motorbikes, tight butts and 24" waists
Apart from ogling at the Vietnamese girls who are just so petite figured and slim, the first day was really exploring the nearby areas and trying out the new camera that's on loan. Proves the fact that u don't need gd skills, just a gd camera to snap pretty cool pics! I personally think that are, at least my previous Olympus camera ain't able to achieve such pics...
Now i am really keen to get a real gd camera...

Decent pics of the almost-done home
Why almost done? Because we haven't had time to complete the furnishings and accessories. The master bedroom lacked a side table, a lamp and maybe some wall decor above the bedframe, and the study, an ottoman. But well, we turned up the lights & took some decent pics for archive!

The study (our fav spot!)

When farewell actually means something to you
I wrote my official farewell note and sent it to the list of business partners & regional colleagues today. Apart from the skew of emails telling me to "Take care", it actually struck me that there'll always be things that one will miss, despite the whims and grouses.3 years and 133 days = 1228 days of my life spent in this place. While i am glad to leave the life of sole shopping trips during the lunch hr and having my desk as my favourite lunch "kaki", i do look back and ask myself if i had made the best out of my life here. I truly think i did, despite the occasionally fustrating hours, the rest have been educational and invorgrating. I am hopeful that these invaluable lessons from the 1228 days will my life will come in useful in my new role and that the day when i call it quits in my new job, i'll look back and tell myself the same 3 words - occasionally FUSTRATING, EDUCATIONAL & INVORGRATING.

Fun shopping at FashBash
I have been waiting for a while to attend this "bash". Local magazines rave about this shopping event where local designers and handmade jewellery go for sale at great prices. This time the event was help at Red Dot Traffic Museum and the shopping was great!
Didn't manage to get any clothes coz it was rather inconvenient trying them on plus, the sizes were all suited for petite gals (read: waist measurements 25") but really pleased with the accessories buys!
Bought a handmade long tassle necklace for only $45 & a wired mesh pearl chain for only $14! Oh, & a hilarious t-shirt that erm, had a message "million dollar body, ten-cent brain". Haha, will snap a pix and post!
Till the next fashbash, will revert to online shopping :)
