Sometimes, reality bites
I think almost everyone around me can sense how excited i am to be approaching the "turn of a decade". Why? Simple:
1. The "turn of a decade" will only happen once (not in yr life, but in 10 years!)
2. U are considered a really "big girl" now
3. The age is often associated with maturity
4. The decade will bring new life experiences
I made a visit to the doctor today and the moment his eyes glanced on the screen and saw the year that i was born, he made a quick remark "problems start at yr age uh...." and then continued to tell me about cysts and fibroids and that if i still do not start planning for a family, i'd be too old to have one. And then started saying that "your period can be regular in the 20s but doesn't mean it'll be regular in the 30s" blah blah blah...
I guess it's only in medical terms that a lady is considered OLD when she hits her 30s. Just when i was excited to approach the grand "turn of a decade" and blow out a celebration in style, this remark hit and well, hard indeed. Reality does bite and I began to think if I am wrong to be all excited about turning 30. A scene flash right into me - I was imagining myself to be in a Gynae's clinic and every woman around me was young and smiling except here's this old preggy, over-the-hill aunty trying for her 1st kid. Oooooh, scary indeed........
OK yes, women in their 30s are not gonna be as fertile as women in their 20s but well, life is as such! I just need to pluck myself up, agree that while 30s ain't as fertile as 20s, we are definitely more confident and as happy (or happier) than those young chicks in their 20s!
