12 hours transit @ London Heathrow

I am with KL's mum & aunt waiting to catch a flight back to Singapore. London Heathrow airport is 1 of the worst airports i have been to... Chaotic, seats are snapped up quickly & uncomfortable, service sux. & well, i am stuck here for the next 12hrs of my life. AAARRRGGH!!!!

Well, all thanks to the silly travel agent that granted me this lovely 12hrs. I kinda learnt my lesson - never trust the travel agent to plan your trip. Always check the airline schedule for the no. of flights in/out. Apparently there was an earlier flight out from Philly & if we had been on that flight, we'd be able to catch the earlier flight from London to Singapore & i won't have to waste 12hrs of my life!

The best part of the tale - we paid £20/pax for the Holideck lounge and thought that i can spend my time here surfing, enjoying the less chaotic atmosphere till the flight departs only to realise that £20/pax only allows us to use the lounge for 3hrs!!!! U'll have to pay another £20/pax to stay here for the entire day! F£"$^!!!!! Honestly, if i am travelling alone, i won't mine paying the extra bucks for comfort but errrm, i am with the other 2 ladies so all expense is times 3! So nah...

Looks like after this 3hrs, i'll be out in the chaos, counting down to boarding time... I think i'll return to Singapore all grouchy, tired & wasted...

Sex and the City tour in NYC!!!

To make good of our 2nd NYC trip, we decided to go on a movie tour & with the upcoming launch of Sex and the City Movie, the drama tour is 1 of the hottest around.

The tour brought us to locations where the show was shot - Carrie's house, Magnolia Bakery (to have the fab cupcakes) & the Pleasure Chest, where the sex tool (Rabbit Vibrator) was sold. As u can see, who had the most fun? :P

Las Vegas & snow in the Grand Canyon

Las Vegas is indeed a SIN city. Every hotel has a casino and people there gamble non-stop. Wonder where they found the energy to keep going every night. We made a trip to the Grand Canyon too & ironically, there was snow on the Grand Canyon in Summer! The weather was erractic. Hail fell, i saw a cylone in a distance & well, we were unprepared for such freezing weather & didn't bring any thick clothes with us. I never thought i'd have my 1st sight of snow during summer. We also had the chance to watch Mystere, a Cirque show @ Treasure Island. Fantastic!

1 of my fav sights is the Bellagio dancing waters. So elegant & way way better than that of Sentosa.

Outlet shopping was the most fun! Bought a BCBG evening gown for US$100 (which somehow i am gonna wear during the wedding) and another latest collection Coach Bag for US$230! Heading to NYC today & with the Memorial Day sales ongoing, i think i am gonna burn another hole in my pocket!

My Palmer Scholar :)

Kang Lin has finally graduated! While sitting on Franklin field today, i can't help but recall those deliberations we had before heading to Wharton. Well, though we are still saddled with debt, i am really proud to say that he has indeed done his best & gone the extra mile to achieve his dream. Seeing him having friends of so many different nationalities and congratuating 1 another that B-school is finally over makes me feel that we did make the right decision in 2006. Afterall, not everyone can squeeze into the top 5% of the cohort & i am glad he did (though i wonder how he did it, coz he seems to be playing Warcraft everyday!)

Attending today's ceremony makes me look forward to mine! I think i'll be as proud of myself as KL is.

Boston (12-14May08)

Harvard is such a lovely campus... So quaint, so well restored and the air of intellect seemed to fill the place. The best part of the Boston trip was actually the visit to Harvard Yard & Harvard Square. I love the sidewalk cafes & well, the town is filled with shops selling Harvard souvenirs. Pity we didn't get to attend any guest lectures coz it's vacation time now.
I am looking forward to KL's commencement this Sun, 18 May...

The past week has seen many ups and downs. Really need this trip to sort out my thoughts & next steps. I hope i come back all rejuvenated & well-rested and most importantly, sweet memories.

End of postgrad journey

I completed my last exam today & yes! My journey has ended. 2 yrs (almost) of struggling, burning weekends, fighting fatigue and most importantly, a total seclusion from social life is finally over.

Thinking back, i recalled that i use to like to count down to exams becoz i know whenever one's over, i am inching closer to graduation. Looking back, i think i'll miss the night classes, the NTU campus and the whines & bitching that every part-time student share.

While i am glad that KL is also working hard to pursue his postgrad, the separation indeed helps us to concentrate on our work & avoid distractions. Of course, i have to admit that I shrunk my social circle & hardly kept in contact with friends that were once considered chums. I don't know what happened in their lives, can't laugh at their jokes & basically, feel "left out" even when we gather. They also no longer drop emails to say hi. Maybe i also have a part to play in all these, for the fact that i really have no time on my hands to attend social gatherings & also lack of energy to initiate them. I don't know if these are what people call "sacrifices" but well, i suppose apart from the paper qualification i gained, i have never spent so much time at home on wkends and well, my parents & i also grew much closer as a result.
Will i ever study again? Honestly, i do harbour hopes of 1 day pursuing an Exec-MBA. I don't know if that'll ever happen. Maybe 5-8yrs down the road, when i pluck up the interest to pursue education once again, i'll. Oh but for a woman, many of say that kids, family will come my way. I don't know what the future brings but all i know is that if u don't set a goal, nothing will ever happen.

Farewell Lilin!

We gathered to say goodbye to Lilin this evening. My dear friend is heading to Geneva for the next 3 yrs. I really don't know when i'll see her again, considering that i am gonna be based in HK till God knows when. I do hope to have the chance to visit Switzerland one day & well, till then, maybe she'll welcome me with open arms.

11 years of friendship! Wow! I am glad that she's moving onto new challenges. In this global economy, physical distance is no longer a boundary. There's also Skype, MSN to stay in touch. I hope to keep in contact with everyone in Singapore and well, hope that if they ever visit HK, they'll come say hi to an old friend.

I actually have mix feelings about relocating. On 1 hand, i am excited on the new opportunities & challenges to my career but on the other, i am leaving everyone i know behind, a familiar environment, family & friends to seek out new pastures with my newfound married status.

Good luck to my dear friend Lilin. I hope it won't take 3 years to see her again. Maybe when i do, she'd have already moved onto her next stage in life - to be someone's mum.
