Packing up

We told ourselves that we need to get started with the packing. The lease expires 30 Sep and we need to shift back to our parents' place for 3 weeks before heading into the new home.

I never knew that my shoes & bags combined can be sooooo terrifying. I didn't do a count of my shoes but i think i am close to 50 and well, anytime 20 bags, much less the amount of money i have spent on them.

Ironically, i am starting to worry that the storage space i designed for Clementi is insufficient. I am beginning to think of where to store my shoes & bags... I think the home for the shoes will be the storeroom. We didn't customize a shoerack coz afterall, it'll never be sufficient for my shoes. We plan to buy 1 of those from Ikea that'll merely take the "market" shoes and the rest of my heels will live in the storeroom.

Thank god for the PH i have an extra day to pack... Weee...

It's looking good (we hope) baby!!

The kitchen mosaics are up but not the gloss black cupboards. I hope they'll turn out well but erm, Boon Tong Kee in Balestier is using the same mosaic tiles...

We hacked off a wall to replace it with glass!

The corridor...

The tiny living room.

Meet-the-people's session

With the loanshark haressment issues getting greater prominence in the news and in Parliment, I had a burning desire to highlight the recent vandalism issue and was encouraged by a friend to make a visit to the meet-the-people's session at Clementi. The idea seems daunting at first but then again, i felt since i was so innocent, i should be a socially responsible citizen to highlight the loanshark haressment issue to the MP for the greater good of the community. Afterall, i have been told that these sessions are constantly bogged by people who are requesting for financial assistance & since i am the luckier ones who aren't plagued by money issues, i thought "why not".

Such sessions are really an "eye opener". There were sooo many people there and everyone was jostling for their turn. I suppose apart from the fact that i was there to make a point and to highlight the issues of such haressment to the PAP, i was kinda impressed by the volunteers and of course, the MP himself. He was more eloquent than i expected and he really seemed dedicated and passionate abt the session. I suppose such community work required more than dedication becoz afterall, one can choose to sit at home to enjoy the evening but alas, had to spend the evening listening to other people's grouses and write letters to solve financial issues.

I am not sure how will this session help but for a start, it was an FYI to the PAP that we were proceeding with our CCTV installation after being bumped around by the HDB, Town council and police. Let's hope that such issues will not happen again and with the police clamping down on such illegal moneylenders and their moronic runners, safety of the neighbourhood will increase and the innocent shall not bear the brunt of those who choose to turn to such illegal moneylenders.
