I have been having a terrible Sashimi craving for weeks! Everyday i walk past NTUC, I am so tempted to buy the salmon sashimi that's on offer (they go on offer after 830pm every night). I know that these sashimi are probably never gonna be as good but the heart keeps telling me to buy them and stuff myself to cure the bad craving. But the mind keep telling me that one shouldn't waste calories on yucky food and since i am not gonna be satisfied after eating them, i'll still have to spend more money on the real stuff. And boy i am glad i stood with the mind.I paid a visit to Fish Mart Sakuraya at West Coast Plaza this evening to finally taste the real thing. Boy, I am glad i did. The sashimi is the freshest i have had, beating those at international buffets hands down. Price was reasonable, with no service charge & GST so u basically pay for the slab, they cut it up for u, and u dip and enjoy. Lovely... That was the only word to describe it. We also chanced upon the bluefin tuna, apparently that taste more like beef than fish. A small slab will blow u off by $50+ (which probably works out to about $8/slice). Maybe someday... when the shares start to climb and i make some money out of them, i'll part with the $50+ for that tiny slab of bluefin tuna. But till then, at least we are happy that there's something to rave about in Clementi & West Coast...
