4 weddings and a baby shower

This is the season to be jolly. Nope, not becoz Santa is coming to town but becoz one is busy attending celebrations of others & giving out monetary packets of blessings. i have 4 weddings in Nov & Dec & 1 baby shower to attend.

1) The union of doctors (22 Nov)

This doctor friend of mine is marrying another doctor and well, their wedding had a 500 strong crowd and needless to say, many medical staff. It was a gathering of the professionals and well, the conversations evolved around duty rosters, the latest happenings in the hospital and patients. I met up with friends that i had lost touch with & it was good to hear what everyone was doing with their lives.

2) The union of teachers (6 Dec)

Haha, i am expecting an intellectual environment for this one. I'd be pretty lonely, with only Munch for company. Chee Wee is marrying Julia and both are in the teaching profession. Kinda disappointed that there'll only be the 2 of us attending his wedding but guess we really should coz afterall, Chee Wee attended mine & Munch's wedding. It's time to return that monetary blessing and share this special day with the newly weds. Hmmm, guess the conversations will be about students & the latest pay cuts across the civil service? :)

3) Engineer + Accountant (12 Dec)

This one is interesting. I am a friend of the groom and this bloke just completed his MBA at NTU. I'll be seeing many of the folks i saw on the 22 Nov wedding and guess it's another time to catch up on the conversations that we left off. The wedding venue is interesting - Grand Shanghai restaurant opp Great World City. Heard there's a dance floor in the middle so let's see how interesting the wedding gets

4) Sarah Wang is inviting me!

I can't believe that Wang Kin is a daddy! His sms was so cute - sent on behalf of his first born Sarah, inviting all the uncles & aunties to her 1st mth celebration! Her existence reminds me of how long i knew her daddy! Wonder how will fatherhood change a man. Less crap & more serious? We'll see... For sure, Sarah has given daddy sleepless nights!

5) Wedding by the sea (26 Dec)

I kinda look forward to attend this wedding of a colleague from the Singapore team. We worked closely together for many projects and i am happy that she's getting hitched, at a grand old age of 26! This'll be a gathering of the Singapore team & i swear, there'll be tonnes of gossips & bitching abt what's going on in the office. Cross my fingers & hope that Rasa Sentosa has a parking lot for me.

With so many joyous occasions ongoing, i guess the festive spirit still lives on, despite the gloom in the financial mkts. I constantly wonder why do so many people love to have their weddings at the end of the yr & risk clashes with others. Of course, for many of us, the packets of blessings do burn a hole in our pocket so time but well, weddings and showers are a good time to meet up with friends that u haven't seen for a while. Afterall, how difficult can it be when u aren't the organizer? :)
